Time to repair?

Many of you will know 2017 has not been the easiest year of my life. In fact it would definitely be up there with the most challenging. When negativity, stress or if you are unlucky enough both enter your life you can be left feeling stressed. I ,personally, am a naturally highly strung person and I am not ashamed to admit I have given into anxiety this year.

In no way will you ever get over, the hurt of any such event but there are definite ways to help improve your feeling and get back on track. These few things are my own feelings. They are things I do when I need to take stock of my life. I hope they help.

Calm

As previously stated, I am a little bit of a stress head. I tend to let a lot of things get to me. This year I broke up with someone who I love, yet didn’t love me back. I tried to look for any bit of calm I had in my life.

When I look back now I can clearly see that three things in my life bring me a sense of calm.

Recently, I went on a much needed trip away with my mum.
·         Books- I love to hide in a book. Getting whisked away with a story, full of romance and whimsy- perfect. Whatever is going on in my life, I always reach for a book and forget whatever is going on.

·         Friends – I have said it before and I’ll say it again, I would be nothing without my friends. I keep my friendship group small, yet I know one call and they would always be there for me. I hope they know I would move mountains for them, too.

·         Blogging -  it’s cheesy but I don’t care. My blog is just that: MY BLOG. I don’t think I have ever or will ever be as passionate about anything else.

Sleep.

Yes, really. Something as simple as a few nights sleep can really help rejuvenate your mind. When times get tough it is incredibly hard to switch off. But when it is possible, take advantage.

Exercise

I am arguably the laziest person in the world, so yes, this is a little bit rich coming from me. Yet, exercising has been proven time and time again to help when anxiety arises. Something as simple as a walk in the woods or a  run around your local lake can really give the mind a little clarity.
I found this on my phone- I have no idea where its from!

When you’re ready- not when you are told too.

People expect a lot from others. When felt pushed, forced situations can be made even harder than necessary. Take your time and don’t jump the gun. No one can ever or should ever tell you when you are ready to do something- we all move in different ways.

What do you think? Do you agree? What do you do when you need a repair ? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I definitely agree with sleeping! Sometimes all I need is the biggest cry in the world and a very good nights sleep! X

  2. Sleep is definitely one of the best things when I'm having a tough time. When I'm going through a rough period my insomnia comes back with a vengeance so when I finally get a good nights sleep it's normally just what I need to pick me up.

    1. Oh I can't even imagine how insomnia feels. I get night terrors and that can make me ill for days! Sleep does wonders, I can't even begin.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. x

  3. I definitely see reading and blogging as a retreat, I love it! Hanging out with some close and loyal friends always cheers me up as well especially when they understand the extent of anything I am going through. A big hug never goes amiss!

    1. I definitely have blogs that I go to for a little time away from my thoughts. There like a little bubble where I can just have five and then take on the world.

Yes, I think we all have those friends who are so loyal, even if they don't understand they never want you to feel alone.

Can't beat a bear hug at the end of a tough time or day, or an emotional programme (I'm big on hugs).

  4. This is such a great post! It's so important to just take some time out sometimes! I've let my blog take a back seat lately but I want to get back into a routine with it! Sleep is always good too!

    1. I couldn't agree more. Sometimes you need to have time to get yourself back. It doesn't matter how long or short.

I'm sure you will, just don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Sleep is a total must for me. No one wants to be around a moaning zombie.

  5. Sleep is a big one for me, if I don't get enough I'm a zombie and being like that and having a little one creates chaos. I love to just take one night a week for a pamper night
