Juggling work and Blogging!
Working full time and daily blogging is a
tiresome commitment, sometimes there are simply not enough hours in the day to
complete task. With to do list as long as my arm and a 40 hour week I began to
think, surely I am not the only one who is overwhelmed with it all?
After a little natter with a very close
friend, I began to realize that the blogging community as a rule are complete
stressed out, multitasking pioneers who wear our hearts on our sleeves. So
here’s, are my frantic struggles, or this month and potentially of life in
general.
Timing- I'm sorry its a bit of a moan.
Timing is definitely an issue when it comes
to working full time and blogging- I know it’s obvious. Sitting at a computer
screen to then go home and sit at a different screen can be draining. I love
blogging but I know some days I just won’t be able to keep up with it.
Sometimes followers leave, sometimes
post go up late and if I’m honest, I sometimes simply don’t want to write
anything at all.
I am so fortunate to have a job, I never
take that for granted but If I could have another hour or two in the day I
wouldn’t say no.
Organization
It’s obvious again but you definitely need
to be organized to make sure blog post get up on time. Scheduling is possibly the best tricks a blogger can get. When working full time you often
don’t get time to push a new post live, so the use of scheduling and buffer
(post coming soon) ease the stress.
I designate days for certain areas of my
blog too. One day will be writing content, the other will be taking images 60
times before getting the right angle of a foundation, and then in between I
work on my blog and/or social media as often as possible.
Motivation
Some days, you’re just not going to want to
blog, or go to work (or get out of bed for that matter) and that’s okay.
Motivation, is something we all struggle with and its definitely difficult to
force it. Forcing yourself to write something because you have to- not want too
, will always make you dislike what your writing and possibly make you give up.
Tip: Take a break, have a night off or just
do something to take your mind off the blog or work and just let yourself enjoy
the moment. It’s a very easy concept, but it’s so effective.
Do there you have it my stressed out life
in a nutshell. Please comment below if you agree!

ReplyDeleteHey Unknown (Chloe- haha),
DeleteAw thank you lovely.

Juggling multiple things are once is a pain in the arse sometimes. No wonder I have days where I just hide in bed and binge watch a TV show.

When I worked full time I didn't blog because I just didn't want to be going from screen to screen. It's only when I went part time after having my son so I would work, sort my lad out and blog in the evenings or any spare moments like naps as well as clean the house and I loved it. Gave me a purpose other than wife worker and mum. Like I could talk about stuff they weren't interested in haha. Easily to juggle now Jake is older and he helps me! Also it's only ever been a hobby for me so I don't get stressed about it. Xxxxxxxx

It is so adorable that Jake helps you. I can definitely see why you would want to. My purpose at the minute is my blog. Its really helping me grow as a person. It sounds so stupid but I absolutely love it and I now don't know what Id do without it.
DeleteCongratulations on your wedding you really did look absolutely stunning. You and your prefect little family, looked so happy. (I promise I mean this in the least stalker way possible).
It's so hard to balance any aspect of your life with full-time work or school/uni! At the same time, it's important to take the time to pamper yourself and exercise your hobbies so that you're not in a 'live to work' state, if that makes sense.

I really think a bit of time out is key to keeping you sane! I can't live without a bubble bath and a face mask at the minute. I sometimes get lost in the 'live to work' attitude so I completely get where your coming from. Its very easy to get lost in it and lose your purpose.

I always struggle to balance work and blogging and sometimes just lack the motivation to blog. Planning really helps but I do wish I had more motivation. xx
ReplyDeleteI can't even cope with working and blogging at times. I think you have it one minute and then its gone the next. I feel your pain about motivation, though, its really hard to find.

This post is so accurate. I work full time and have two kids and sometimes when I get home I just want to chill out. When I realise I need to write, post, comment or photograph it can feel like working two jobs at the same time. And I admire anyone who manages to schedule posts in advance. I never seem to be able to find the time to get ahead! It's a constant battle.
ReplyDeleteI have never agreed with anything more. I don't know how you mange to do it with working full time and having children. Its definitely a massive challenge to get in front.
DeleteIt definitely feels like two full time jobs! There never enough time.
If you ever need to vent, i'm always here.

I definitely agree that the blogging community as a whole can get quite stressed out from time to time! You're right though that it's important to take breaks and to put your health (mental and physical) before anything else! It's ok to lack motivation from time to time, it's natural! Sending love and positive vibes your way!

Thank you xxx
DeleteI deffo think it's doable! With blogging unless it's a full time job then we shouldn't feel stressed or forced to post all the time, as Abbey said mental health comes first! xx

Definitely. It's very easy to lose your mental health when blogging x
DeleteI always felt bad for not blogging regularly but then I realised it's a hobby and I'm meant to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel pressure into doing it

I think it's really easy to let the pressure get to you. You constantly feel like you need to do more. X
DeleteIt can definitely be a real struggle to juggle blogging and work! Last year I let it beat me and I hardly blogged at all and I really missed it. This year however I made it my goal to get more organised and I'm so glad I've succeeded with it. Lots of planning, work and late nights, but so far I've only missed 1 post this year (well ok, 2, but I made up for the second with an extra post the following week ha)
ReplyDeleteLauren | Lauren the Daydreamer
That's so good! You can definitely be forgiven. I'm actually debating becoming a daily blogger at the minute. I'm really enjoying it.
DeleteOrganisation is seriously key when your juggling. Well done you're doing amazingly xxx
I loved reading this, thanks so much for the tips! I'm planning on starting a very full time internship soon so I think I'm going to have to learn how to juggle everything, I'll have to get to grips with scheduling tweets and posts!
ReplyDeleteLots of love Izzy | http://www.ADoseOfChatter.com
I'm struggling to work part-time and do lots of overtime and blog daily! I really need to get a bit more organised which I plan to do with my next 3 days which I have off! Hooray!
